Fragment 14: OBSCURIOTEMPUS FOUND

Ok, so…

Hey Augie!

It’s 5 again. Is everything going alright? Your last message scared quite a few of us. Can you tell us why you’re going to be a lightning rod for the Storm? So that we can understand? And would it be possible for you to give us an email so that we could get into contact with other Mountiees? Sorry for the questions, we just don’t want anything bad to happen.

Mr5yy, along with Basecamp 33

I’d still like at ask about the email. just to see if we could.

Sounds good! Though don’t forget we’re supposed to be anonymous so I’d drop the basecamp 33. Say “and the lodge” instead

Ok, so the version sent:

That works.

Augernon went to perform the Consilatory Teatime memory retrieval spell on his grandfather.

“…how grandpa had almost saved them all but in the end they were all wiped out and made to forget.”

Whatever his grandfather did, he’s going to try to do it to save the '94s. He was never going to use the spell we sent on Ascender.

So his grand father was definitely part of some Mounties group that was before the 94’s. Also “Palaces made of doors” sounds really familiar but my foggy morning brain can’t place it.

We first heard that from Augernon when Marty met with him and we performed the memory retrieval spell on him, if I recall correctly. A long time ago, feels like.

It’s where the Silvers rule their corner of the world from. Teddy said that he and KS were deliberately seeking it when they were conducting their experiments with adepts and the Chair. I think they had a flawed understanding of the Palace of Doors, as ultimately, that’s where the Storm came from to wipe them out.

So the palace of doors is like a pocket world within ours much like Neithernor

EDIT: Wait a sec I missed something. Augie’s grand father wanted to tell him about the war (I’m gonna assume WW2) and what they found in Europe. He wanted to tell him a story about the doors. So what did they find in Europe and why are there so many references to doors. Are these the same doors as the Palace of doors or maybe the doors to Neithernor or maybe something different.

Going off of this and an earlier idea, what if the Doors are in Ireland,

So if there is one in Ireland then Deirdre might have a journal update for us when she comes back. That’s just assuming she has to be in the country and not near the location of the door

I don’t know if it’s a pocket world or not. Sullivan seemed to think the Silver “made” the palace of doors after collecting scraps of power in this world after being exiled by the Wool/Mounties from Neithernor.

We gave Augie the means to get ideas from his grandpa.
Goddess I love him.

Palace of doors has always suggested to me a non congruent location (a place that can be accessed from a variety of points). Nothing to say Ireland may not have an access point. It’s an old old sport for magiqs of all kinds.

Question: did anything really happen in Ireland during WW2? I thought most of the fighting (that wasn’t plane-based) was on the continent.

Its coming full circle, in a way. Augernon used the same spell on his grandfather that we used on him only a couple months ago, the spell we gave him.

And it may be the thing that leads to his facing down the Storm.

I’ve said before that despite our best efforts, we may not be meant to save them–to protect them. That task may fall squarely on Augernon’s shoulders as before, and we may be simply handing him the tools to do it, one way or another.

We need Deirdre. Asking her for anything now feels wrong, and selfish. But we may be at a standstill until she comes back to the States and goes to the place the coordinates seem to indicate. Still… she deserves her time to mourn.

We have talked about the 94s going “public” as if it would be impossible or dangerous for them, but really, have we even suggested it to him? Is it more dangerous than Augernon facing down The Storm? The “how” would be for them to determine, but it’s in line with Ascender’s thinking during their timeline, and certainly in ours. Just a topic I’d like to revisit, if I may. I’m certainly not going to insist, but it’s a line of thinking I’ve been mulling over. @Endri, what do you think?

Ireland was neutral during WW2 so I don’t think there will be anything there unfortunately

Na, Ireland was neutral in the Second World War. My idea was based off another one where Deidre was supposed to follow her mother on the Path of Silver.

Edit: It could be because of the neutrality that the Door is there.

This isn’t the first time we have heard of books found in the war. I’m away from a pc right now but Sullivan’s dad or grandad also found something in Germany. Perhaps he was in same unit as Augies grandad.

I’m not sure what their numbers are like, but at this point, could it hurt more than the storm coming for them one by one? We know Ascender sent Augernon a message about going public. Would he have continued sending that message, even if Augie didn’t reply, even if Augie said no? The time I spent with Ascender leads me to think that yes, he would. But this was decades ago. He was a different man then. We have to think fast whatever we do. Augie may already have the information and the means to do what we know he’s already done.

And if there’s no one left back then to help us unlock their book, we’ve lost all over again.

My brain is still trying to get around the fact that we gave Augie the spell that helped him learn all the things he told Martin (and us) because of the same spell we performed on him.
