at least we have a better idea of what we’re actually looking for now
Sorry about that last post, I’m a bit frustrated at the moment. I’ve been busting my butt since I got here, and these #%$#^%…
What I meant to say is, I don’t trust the devoted. They are an unknown faction, we don’t know who they are or what they want, from Brandon, or from us. I think they’re toying with us, perhaps even feeding us misdirection. Now they’ve suddenly got us on this ridiculous schedule and adding tasks they never even hinted at before, as if they were in charge and we’re just here to do the dirty work for them. It’s just sending up too many red flags for me.
All I’m saying, (and I only speak for myself, I know), Is that if they want my help, they’re going to have to be more sportsmanlike and play fair, or they can do it without me.
Its alright @Leigha I think we are all a little frustrated. I don’t trust the devoted either but its all we really have to find Brandon, or at least find out what happened to him. I agree its unfair, but perhaps there is a method to the Devoted’s very VERY obvious madness. Really, I’m just grabbing at straws here.
We are all very frustrated. We’re confronted with a huge amount of information with only a bit of context and barely have an idea what we’re supposed to make of it. And even if we knew what to make of it, we don’t have the faintest idea what to do with the answer.
That’s frustrating.
It’s also irrelevant.
Let’s remember we’re all here to have fun and challenge ourselves. Sometimes challenge sucks, but it can still be made fun if you want it to be.
Remember this is Brandon’s story, not this cult’s story. We don’t take orders from them, or dance on their timelines. if we don’t get them what they need. If we don’t find the fragment the BoB wants. If we don’t find anything else let’s try to find one thing. Let’s try to find something to help Brandon’s mom remember her missing boy. Even if all we do is put his last story (the story I might remind you they STOLE from a grieving mother) together and give it back to her. I’m good with that.
Everything else is just gravy. And who knows, maybe we find something to stick it to these guys also.
@TheBellsAreRinging You’re right, before they gave us the files, we were at a standstill, just waiting for something to fall out of the sky. Doesn’t mean I trust them of course, or that anything about that e-mail was okay. But yeah, we do know more now than we did a few days ago.
I do want to make it clear that I have no intention of abandoning The Mountaineers. I’m simply not working for the devoted anymore. What I do, I do for us, for Diedre, for Brandon, and for myself. And I do it on my terms, not theirs. As @Robert so perfectly put it[quote=“Robert, post:182, topic:147”]
If they can do it on their own then be my guest.

There’s a lot of mysticall significance to the number 33. As for 3:33, 3 am is known as the witching hour. The time of night when the veil between worlds is the thinnest. It’s corresponding time on the calendar is Halloween (Samhain).
I’m in absolute agreement with you guys. ■■■■ The Devoted. King Rabbit was a dick but at least he was begrudgingly helpful, had a sense of humor, and didn’t screw around with grieving parents. Let’s do this for Susan and Jim. Let’s do this for Brandon.
Ugh, @Bash, how can I make an impassioned off-color rallying cry if you have language moderation turned on?! ■■■■!
Well said, everyone. Let’s do it for those who matter, not those who don’t.
As for how to deliver the answers, it may just be as simple as emailing “solutions” to them. I’m going to email the character sheets to them and see how they respond. If they’re rude or unhelpful, then we’ll know. Or perhaps they’re rude but may indicate that that is, indeed, how to submit the answers.
It really does look like we’re supposed to piece together his gaming materials: maps, character sheets, dungeon notes, etc. I have no idea what the audio and Othello have to do with this, but hopefully that will come to light.
As will finding the Glass Report.
We may have found the first beacon. We believe its the Giuseppe Verdi Monument
If anyone wants to email the devoted about this, be my guest.
Edit: Thanks to @Robert we were able to figure this out! ^-^
I had forgotten! Thank you @AlisonB too!! I’m really excited because this is the first breakthrough we’ve made in a while. Maybe we will be able to make it by the deadline! Lets just work as fast and as hard as we can to figure out the rest and if it ends up we make it, double win! ^-^
And I thank @Mike and @Tom for giving the idea to look at the wiki in the first place. As you may have noticed, I’m not great at riddles and things, but I have an eye for details like those numbers. Happy to be of use in some way…
Has anyone e-mailed the devoted yet? I’d do it, but I just don’t think I’m the best person to be talking to them.
Same here, I’d figure that @luxisdead would do it eventually, since (s)he’s spoken to them before.
Okay, just sent email. “We believe we have found the site of the first beacon.” with a link to the Verdi monument wikipedia page.
Tell us when/if they say anything.
Absolutely. I have to step out for about a half an hour, but I think they’ll keep to their 3:33 schedule. I’m on EST and it’s 1:55 right now.
(edit) holy s@$#, someone just attempted to sign in to my email account, the one I sent the email from. It wasn’t me. Are these jackasses trying to hack my account?
Update: received an email from a reliable source saying that it wasn’t anyone associated with Ackerly Green’s guide to Magiq trying to get in to my account. I believe them. Definitely closing that account as soon as I hear back from the devoted, which should be any minute now currently 3:17 est.
That’s pretty creepy.
Be careful! Make sure to change all your passwords immediately. Something nobody could guess.
edit: Haha thanks brain, “change your all passwords” -_-
