Inspired by a discussion of the game Harvest Moon, prompted by @Viviane
In the game Harvest Moon, players charm NPC’s with tokens of affection. Flowers, fossils, baked goods, etc. Some NPC’s are pickier than others, accepting only flowers that bloom during a certain season rather than flowers of any varieties.
So, my question to you dear Mountaineers, what are your accepted tokens of affection? Perhaps they are of Neithernorian in nature, or totally of the mundane? Must they be the glittering dagger stolen from a dragon’s lair, or a daisy plucked from a dew-covered garden?
Personally, my accepted tokens of affection are:
Embroidery thread in any shade of pink, though cotton pink is preferred.
Potted plants, held in comfortable terracotta pots
Books, of any sort, literally help me hoard books.
Candles cradled In fox patterned dishes.
Cloth of bright colours and soft, cottony composition.
Potted plants, preferably bright green.
Fluffy blankets.
Bird related items.
Anything animal-related (including stuffed animals)
Books!!
Board games, especially cooperative games
Special treats, like cupcakes or tarts
Trips to zoos, aquariums, or museums (and/or things from their gift shops)
Screenshots or links to things online that make the person think of me
Book recommendations
Asking for my opinion
“Thinking of you” text messages
Actual letters in the mail
And for a doozie: a buffalo robe (sourced in a good way). But that’s only for someone who is asking for my hand!
Flowers (specifically Orchids, Snapdragons, Asters)
Vinyl records
Home cooking, especially desserts
Hand-carved tchotchkes
Music boxes
Yarns of all kinds
(This list is made vaguely in accordance with the Harvest Moon theme; there are a bunch of other things I would accept in real life, but since I spawned this conversation based on HM I wanted to stay in the theme of the game.)
Hmhmhm… feels weird to look at my attempt at a half assed rhyme up there. Pretty accurate tho. Avalon, dont worry about necrothreading - we’re like… one of the only places ive found on the internet that allow it and encourage it.
