Hey everyone, I’m happy you’re all getting to know each other but I’d like to keep the welcome thread to directing new members. You can absolutely continue the conversation in the general discussion!

Hello all!
I just joined today. I’m… very late to this, but I’m not letting that get me down. I was drawn in through an Instagram ad, like many others.
My name is Mallecho. I am a Flinterforged! I started reading the Monarch Papers just a few hours ago and am already making good progress.
I am just entering university next fall, and am planning to major in molecular biology. I enjoy exploring anything to do with art, music, and literature, and am constantly moving between interests. (Let’s not talk about the heaps of abandoned projects I have.)
I have barely scratched the surface of this forum, but I already feel so safe here. :relaxed:

Welcome! As a fellow Flinter, I can tell you pretty confidently that no one will judge you for heaps of abandoned projects; we’ve all got quite a few.

A good chunk of this forum is just my half-finished projects.

@BrokenVoid Thanks for the tips! Also, happy to meet another bio person!!! I have an idea of what’s in store for me in my major, since I just finished a rigorous biology program in high school. (Still trying to fix my sleep schedule.) I… am both thrilled and terrified.

@LoliOwar Glad to see I’m not alone here! I wish I found this earlier, especially around the time it started. 14-year-old me would have looooved this. Not saying I don’t right now! I’m so ready to dive in and explore this.

@Viviane @CJB The mountain of my unfinished pieces and I feel validated. :sparkles: All jokes aside, that does make me feel better. :))

Thanks all for the warm welcome!!

Well, this is more a “make-believe for big kids” kind of place so I think you found it right on time!

Hello! My name is Alice! On the interwebs, people often also call me Cynical, or just Cyn for short. I’m fine with any, call me what you will! I’m a new recruit to Ebenguard.

I’m… sort of I guess as close to a professional larper as one gets? Which is to say that I make no money doing it, but I spend nearly all my time preparing to travel or actually travelling around the US (and the world when there isn’t a pandemic and I have the funds to do so) playing make believe, dressing up, and telling collaborative improvisational stories in far off worlds with friends and strangers alike. If I’m not participating as a part of someone else’s story, I’m writing my own, or I’m doing research, or building costuming or… well, you get the idea. I specialize in a style of larp known as freeform, to those that know it.

So, uh, my journey here is a bit of a story. I think about… 4-ish years ago? I stumbled upon some super interesting and weird posts on some random corner of the internet, got curious, and followed them to their source. Turned out it was something to do with this whole Ackerly Green, ‘Briarverse’, book… arg… thing. I was very interested at the time, especially given what I do and my personal interests, but I had a lot on my plate, and was overwhelmed by the idea of needing to catch up to all of that lore, so I filed it away under ‘cool reative things someone is doing’, and moved on.

But then I kept stumbling into it. Either through random mentions in the most innocuous of places, or through advertisements, or whatever. Of course, there was always even more lore than last time, and more reasons to be very overwhelmed, so I continued to pass it by. Regardless of my intentions, I just kept stumbling into stuff relating to this weird magical world whenever I least expected it. Long story short, I eventually just lost that war of attrition I didn’t even fully realize I was a part of, and, well, now I’m here. And of course, after all that time there’s mountains more of lore to catch up on… and I proooobably should have just started way back when.

Nice to meet you! There are a few larpers in here. I was at CoW…16 I think? March 2017. And second Convention of Thorns.

@Alligatoramberlee CoW always looked fun! And I was also at CoT2! Obviously there are better places than here, but I would absolutely love to chat with you about it sometime, learn who you played, etc! It’s possible we even ran into each other!

@BrokenVoid Thank you very much for the warm welcome! I’ve definitely been going through the various rules and guides on here, all very helpful! Unfortunately it looks like I need to wait until I’m at a higher level of trust before I can post in the hobbies or larping threads, although I have definitely taken note of both! (Unless there is some other reason those forums are locked to me that I am missing.) But I’m sure I’ll be seen in there quite a lot.

Reading helps level you up, so you’ll be in there in no time. I’ll PM you so we can chat about CoT!

Yup, it’s just a matter of lurking on the forum for a little while. It helps make sure people get an idea of how the forum works before they start posting a lot.

Welcome to the Fam, Cyn! I just noticed the notifications about newbies, and haven’t really woken up enough yet to fully engage or read much, but I will shortly, and I’ll give y’all a proper welcome

Hello! My name is Rhiannon, but online I go by Rhino (which can be shortened to Rhi). I’m completely new to all of this. I stumbled upon a book on my phone while in school, and it led me to the discovery of everything that I have read today about today.

I went through the Guide, and I was told I was best suited for Thornmouth. Afterwards, I was taken on a new journey and found this server. I will say, I’m a rather shy person, and not good with starting conversations, but if its something that peeks my interest, like art and music, then I give full attention to the people talking.

I also limit myself from electronic usage (especially after a year in quarantine), but I get online as often as I can and when I remember to do so . Bare with me though, I’m good at heart, and I’m Told that I have a great voice of reasoning in difficult situations. Now I just have to catch myself up to speed with all the great things that I’ve missed.
