Fragment 14: OBSCURIOTEMPUS FOUND

Probably not important, but those pound signs are sticking out to me, almost like those two are supposed to go together. With the answers we have currently, it could read as “fish” with an accent.

Then again, I’ve been up for 19 hours.

The T at the end indicated to me that it was out of place and not to be replaced like the other T’s. Of course, that’s inconsistent in the extreme, because why not use another letter? However, I’m also not sure we have a better bet, and the fact that it spells something at all seems worth keeping for now.

I’m also wondering what the 32 in the Book’s message might have to do with this. I’m not convinced it’s connected to the code-breaking, but I’m sure it means something. 32 is an odd amount to be a “length of times,” since time is usually measured in tens or twelves (at least in this universe).

Any other ideas on what 32 could be?

This makes absolutely no sense. Must be a Fragment.
Flour, Time, Fee, Shhh?, Fear, S, Tight, Neigh or a Whinny (Unless we are looking for Neigh in another language.)

Another thing I thought of was 8 or 4. 8*4=32?

Well, it matters. A Neigh from the mouth, a snort from the nose, a fart because horses pass some bad gas, a clip or clip clop from the feet.

Yeah, I was thinking something similar, chey. If you bar 4 from 32 (I took bar to mean divide), as you said, we would have 8.

This is an unriddle, so maybe the letters we’re taking our spell something?

That’s a good point.

I keep wanting to read the clues as. ‘Flour fish fears tighening’… which makes no sense but my mind keeps trying to force that in there.

Or if it’s winney I guess it could be ‘Flour fish fears tie twin… something’

I made a note of that, but it doesn’t seem to be going too far, especially since 15 just has letters rearranged.

I’m for bed, all. Keep working, and if you haven’t cracked it yet there’ll be some fresh eyes in the morning. :joy:

Well, I’ll try but I’ll be in bed by 5.

By the way, if you take out every fourth letter in 32, you get “HETUNDTORETAEST.” I’m not sure if that’s helpful, but it is what I was trying to do with the line “Barring fours from thirty-two”.

Edit: The original was “HETOUNDTTORSETAKEST”.

It look like “The - east.” I’m not for sure about the middle word/s.

Edit: Actually, when I look closer, it looks kinda of like pig Latin.

Maybe “He turned to east”, but there’s still and extra T and it’s not a question.

What about the extra letters put between words? Do those spell out anything?

Apparently not. @Viviane already tried.

Yeah, the letters taken out are “T”, “O”, “K”, and “S”, so I don’t think we can spell anything with those.

I think the rhyme is backwards.

"A grieving air’s what must be made,
To ready up the mourning glade,
The characters all brought together,
A heavy heart upon a feather,

To find the heartbreak in the note
And then unriddle what’s been wrote,
For thirty-two’s the length of times
The mourners all dressed in the nines,

Barring fours from thirty-two’s?
I wonder if it would trouble you,
For else how could you find the time?
There must be holes in the unrhyme."
