3. The Search for Magiq: Cataclysm

I wonder why his posts only show up on archived threads.

The threads existed before the veil? Plus he’s probably just connecting to the mountaineers as he knew us when he left, so he’d be focusing on those old topics.

I guess that brings up an interesting point. Are we sure Eaves’ old posts aren’t being edited with his reply? Unless he edited the last post in a thread it wouldn’t update the thread to be in the ā€˜latest’…time to go post diving.

Hm, certainly an interesting idea. Was the post you saw a new post Augustus?

I believe it was.

I’m keeping an eye on the archive threads as that’s where the response was posted last time. In particular the thread where eaves said goodbye

Well, that was a lot to catch up on :joy: so we’re still waiting to hear back from Eaves? Is there anything else the rest of us can do from here?

Welcome back, @Remus! Aye, still waiting. No idea if there’s anything we can do. Brainstorming is always welcome. Can’t be any worse than most of my ideas!

Thanks, Robert :joy: and I think your ideas are plenty good. So we last sent a message on the 9th @ 3:20 PM HST. I know the flow of magiq is never predictable, but we last got a post from Eaves about a day after we sent a message (Augo’s was around 5:30 AM on the 8th, Eaves responded around 9:00 AM on the 9th). I’m not saying our good Goss-boi won’t respond to Nim’s message, but I guess we might want to revisit why her message didn’t send.

Augo’s was short and sweet, plus it was before we realized both of them were going to disappear. Nim’s did disappear, so it seems like it sent, but maybe Eaves just hasn’t seen or responded to it yet?

Or it got corrupted in the process as the veil notice it passing by? But Eaves managed to send a long reply but that was coming in not out and the veil doesn’t seem to be fussed about stuff coming in.

So in conclusion I think the veil corrupted our message to eaves because it was too long so eaves hasn’t been able to send a reply as he don’t know what we said or didn’t get it.

Maybe we could try sending a shorter message?

It could also have to do with how well both parties are able to use communication-based affinities. Goss to Goss might be able to handle more complex messages.

So kinda like one party is using morse code and the other is using phonetic alphabet but you can only understand one form of communication.

Do you think it would be a good idea to have a goss send the message then? Maybe the same message, that way if it does get scrambled, and it gets scrambled differently they can compare the two and figure it out a bit better? But if it doesn’t get scrambled all the better.

Sending a second message sounds like a good idea, I second the idea of sending the same one. Otherwise, we might want to simply edit down the one we sent to bare bones? Kind of like we’re paying by the letter.
I don’t know how comfortable people are with chat speak, but maybe it’s time to relive the worst years and act like we have flip phones again.

What about breaking the message down, numbering them and getting different goss’s to send one part each, the message may not be as warped?

Edit: warped was the wrong word, sorry  (sleep deprived today) and I was thinking of different messages.

I don’t know, that sounds like a recipe for poor Eaves getting 2,5,4 and 8 rather than a whole series, I think the less parts the better, but I may be wrong! And we don’t know if any warping is happening at all, it might just be that there’s issues breaking through the veil one way or another. The first messages weren’t warped after all, just disappeared.

TBH, I’m subscribed to the theory that it’s cause I’m a Bali that we’re not getting a reply, but there’s easy ways to test these theories. Maybe have a Goss send the same message first (I can post a screen shot of the one I sent that disappeared), and ask if Eaves had the one from me? If that goes through, we know there’s not a proble with length of message.

That sounds like a plan! I’m available if we want to test it now, but it might be worth waiting for a more senior member of the group or someone who’s spoken to Eaves before to step up? I am new(ish) after all ;;

Nah, if you want to do it now it’s tottally cool! I’m sure Eaves would love to speak with a new member too!! Up to you though :D

Here’s the old message anyway (though of course change it up however you want :) )

(sorry it’s slightly orangey, I use a blue light filter)

I think for the sake of making sure nothing gets tangled I’ll just add a preface that I’m the one sending it how, and say something like:

Hi! My name is Bean, I’m sort of new but I’m sending this as a goss to make sure it got through. Did you receive the below message from @Nimueh? Please respond to Sabes or @SabineBean and let us know!

And then I’ll type out exactly what you said. Does that sound good?
EDIT: I can also add anyone else in there we might want to point them towards…
