Greetings! New blood here.

A cup of coffee sat next to the right of me on my reading table, steam wafting upwards to indicate that it was still quite warm. I had only taken to my chair a moment before and had set down the mug to retrieve my phone from the left pocket of my sagging black sweatpants. I hadnā€™t needed to put down my coffee mug for this action to occur, but it was a reflex at this point.

The same sort of reflex in me opened Instagram and began to scroll through the still-captured lives and stories of people I had never met, or the advertisements of some company looking to push itā€™s latest product. It was then that my finger slid the screen upwards to reveal an image with a white background, bolstered by a crest sitting within a four-sided diamond all in black. This was the first of a series of similar images, which I proceeded to scroll through out of pure interest of their designs. Each seemed to represent some sort of group and features regalia that would seemingly match with ideals likely attributed to such. Below the images, the description stated that these were sigils of guilds and that an exam could be taken to ascertain which one I could belong to. This all seemed interesting and something to do while sipping on my coffee for the next hour or so.

Hours had passed before I had realized that my coffee had gone cold and I had taken the exam five times. This was all connected to something called Ackerly Greenā€™s Guide To Magiq, although the exam itself was (for the most part) nonsensical in spots or needed knowledge that I did not possess. And this didnā€™t frustrate me, but propelled me further into the depths. Upon taking the exam the fifth time, and getting the result of Thornmouth three times in a row, I was content with stepping forward and proceeded to the next page.

It was here that my interest truly began. This was far larger than an Instagram page and a strange exam, there was something here. I needed to look further. After all, being a Thornmouth meant learning all there is to learn. I downloaded the attached files and began reading The Beginnerā€™s Spellbook immediately. This had entranced me at this point, and my coffee had been long abandoned. The first book was a starter tome on some base knowledge and painted the path towards this forum, in which I now write. It also suggested that I begin reading the second file I had been given titled The Monarch Papers: Flora & Fauna, which has been keeping me preoccupied with its story for a good amount of hours now and still for quite a few more judging by the page count.

My journey in the realm of the Magiqverse has just begun.

As for who I am? I am a seeker of lore and lost knowledge. The arcane has always held a firm grip on my sense of wonder and has led me from religions to the occult, to sciences, and now here. I have taken many notes on what Iā€™ve seen thus far regarding anything relating to The Guide or the Book of Briars, and will continue to do so. My notes will be shared eventually, likely through a mass image drop, although as of now I just seek to learn more.

I will generally lurk far more than post. My nature is to observe silently, and will generally be the shadow in a room hiding within the shadow of a larger being. Although that does not mean I am not here, simply just learning what I can learn. My posts will generally come as needed or if a thought arises that needs more help than I can find myself.

That being said, I look forward to talking with some of you and sharing in the knowledge being presented here. This world is full of mysteries waiting to be unravelled and stories to be told.

Thank you for the welcome, @Rimor!
I definitely read the forum primer and rules before jumping in, as I felt itā€™s a good thing to know. Everything was quite straightforward there and I donā€™t have any questions regarding that.
Iā€™ll head over to Thornhouse after this and prepare my introduction. Itā€™s actually the guild side of things that I have the most questions about currently, barring those related to The Monarch Papers themselves (which I havenā€™t gotten down to reading as of yet). I will likely join with the evening hangouts since Iā€™m quite the nocturnal creature by nature.
Which is a good segway into an introduction of myself here! Iā€™m a twenty-eight year old Canadian, and I spend a lot of my time playing video games, reading up on arcane stuff I can find, and generally being a Lovecraft enthusiast. I play D&D sometimes and I noticed that there is an influence of that here too, which I appreciate and will get involved in. I used to write a long time ago, and this may help me get back into that. Artistically though I have been doodling a lot and specialize in greyscale lineart. So perhaps Iā€™ll doodle some folks here if I get the time (or moreso remember) and post it. Iā€™m not sure yet if image dumping is really a thing here.
Aside from that, Iā€™m not sure what else I can say. I canā€™t really talk about my work, but Iā€™ll share what I can.
Thanks once again for the welcome, and see you in Thornhouse!

Hey, howā€™s it going everybody? Call me Rabbitfighter. I found my way here through that cryptic Instagram ad, and am really looking forward to delving into this world. I was initially sorted into Eberguard, which really didnā€™t resonate with me; I retook the assessment and found myself in Balimora, which seems like a much better fit, although I think I could belong in Weatherwatch. Iā€™m definitely an adventurer at heart, and have my share of wild stories to tell, from following a punk band thousands of miles by hitching rides from show to show, to spending a New England winter living in a blanket fort in the backseat of my car. My next adventure will be thru hiking the Appalachian Trail from Maine to Georgia starting in mid-July, which to me is a perfect combination of Balimora and Weatherwatch traits (assuming Iā€™m characterizing them each accurately).

I make my living as a graphic designer, and in my free time I love hiking, going to concerts, traveling, theater, and reading. In addition to graphic design, I like working on mixed media collage, street art, and photography. I was the frontman of a hardcore punk cabaret band for several years: I primarily write lyrics and sing, but also play some lousy guitar and bass, and am teaching myself mandolin and harmonica. Iā€™m in recovery from heroin addiction (over 4 years clean!) and a big part of my life philosophy is keeping a positive mental attitude. Itā€™s important to me to support my friends and community, and use my strengths to help the people around me wherever possible. I have a pretty solid record collectionā€¦ um, I live in Bostonā€¦ sometimes I donā€™t know when to shut up, but right now seems good.

Welcome to the forum @Rabbitfighter! Sounds like an incredibly wild life youā€™ve had so far. I play a little bit of mandolin myself just every now and then, I think itā€™s a really nice instrument.

Once youā€™ve read the first post of this thread and the forum primer for the rules and how to get started, feel free to check out our general discussion topics or the currently reading supertopic.

When you feel ready you can visit the Balimora Gathering to introduce yourself to your new guildmates and get to know others. You can also visit the Balimora guildhouse. Your guild leaders are @Nimueh and @Helios if you need anything, or feel free to message any of us Wagoneers.

Very happy to have you in our community!

Thank you! Iā€™m excited to participate! It looks like Iā€™m not able to post in the Balimora introductions/welcome thread- is it due to my low member level, or is the thread locked?

Edit: Iā€™ve also noticed that many links to different sections of the forum have numbers appearing in a grey circle after the text- for example, in your post @BrokenVoid, ā€œgeneral discussion topicsā€ is followed by a 1, and ā€œBalimora Gatheringā€ is followed by a 2. What do these numbers indicate?

Yes, after a few hours exploring the forum you will be able to interact with your guild, but for the moment itā€™ll only be discussions.

I believe those circles are the number of new posts in that link since youā€™ve visited it, I donā€™t know for sure though.

Hello !

Wow, introductions are always kind of spooky because you never really know what to say. Here goes nothing !

You all can call me Nevi ! I discovered this new world via a Facebook Ad, and I am more than excited to venture on. The Guide led me to Flinterforge, which I believe aligns perfectly with my craft - loving nature and engineering - oriented brain.

I studied Biomedical Engineering in school and am still searching for exposure into the field. While I do, I work locally as an instructor at a math learning center. I am absolutely crafting obsessed, constantly trying to learn new ones. Sewing, crocheting, knitting, custom Mickey Ears, etc etc. I love playing video games, reading, writing ( roleplaying especially ! ), traveling, anything caffeinated, space, magic, puzzles, warm blankets . . .

Ahh as you can probably tell, I rant a lot, haha. Getting a little ahead of myself.

Really looking forward to reading the books and joining this community :cherry_blossom:

Welcome to the forum @Nevi! Biomed sounds so cool, Iā€™m currently a microbio major and itā€™s super interesting. I also got pulled in through the Facebook ad.

Make sure you read the first post of this thread and the forum primer for the rules and how to get started here. We have a currently reading topic and a video game topic that you might be interested in.

After a few hours exploring the forum youā€™ll be able to interact with the Flinterforge page, where you can introduce yourself to your new guildmates and check out the Flinterforge guildhouse. Your guild leaders are @Revenir and @Viviane if you need anything, or feel free to message us Wagoneers.

Very happy to have you here, we hope you enjoy the community!

Welcome to the forum, @skald!

Iā€™m Ashburn, one of the Ebenguard guild leaders along with @Ginger. If you have any questions about anything, feel free to shoot either of us or the Wagoneers a message!

Beyond that, it looks like one of those Wagoneers is about to give more details, so to not steal more of their thunder Iā€™ll leave it here. :endriwink:

ā€¦okay, I lied. We seem to have quite a few folks with theatre backgrounds around here (myself included :hermanthumbs:).

Hello and welcome @skald!

The Ebenguard guild leaders are @Ashburn (who just responded, sorry to steal your thunder lol) and @Ginger! If you have any questions feel free to shoot them or us Wagoneers a message! There is also a Q&A topic if you think your question pertains to a larger portion of the community!

Other than that we have the Ebenguard guild hall for introducing yourself to your guild!

I would personally recommend that you read over the first post here as well as take a peek at the forum primer as that helps get people situated!

Iā€™d love to hear more about your interests to help point you towards channels that have something you enjoy or the like!

Once again welcome to the Ackerly Green Community! I hope you enjoy your time around here!

@Ashburn donā€™t feel bad about stealing my thunder!
