Back home there is Maverick the little shit-poo. He’s an old boy and sometimes stares at walls for fun? Is a sucker and will roll over for anyone to pet his belly, but thinks he’s tough and will still bark at anyone coming in the door. Despite his small size he will still steal your spot if you get up for even a second. Can hear the wrapper of you picking up cheese from a mile away and will demand a piece always.
Then there’s Maggie. Magdalen is her full name. She’s a leonburger which are difficult to come by round here as they’re trying to reestablish the breed. Someone in my family adopted her daughter, Daisy, and this is her mom. The breeder (who were friends with) asked us to foster her for the winter because I don’t think they’re breeding her anymore since she’s getting up there in age and we’re focusing on the other female? Anyways, she wasn’t getting the attention these dogs require and was getting depressed. So we took her in … and um … it’s not winter anymore … but she’s not going back if we have the choice. She’s SUPER well behaved (the toddler can walk her with no problems or pulling, despite her weighing like 200 lbs?) She will sneak her nose into your unoccupied hand as a way to calmly demand pets. You can literally pet her from standing up and excited to asleep in a puddle on the floor. She will steal unattended meat though, and the odd block of butter. She sheds enough to make a shag carpet for our whole house. Oh, and LOVES falling asleep right where you need her not to … like in front of the door, or in the middle of kitchen when you’re trying to cook, or in front of the fridge. Good luck moving her then. Maggie also absolutely loves sleeping in the dog bed that doesn’t fit her and wasn’t meant for her, but she loves it so much we can’t get rid of it.
A family friend got my sister a new Russian Hamster! She’s thinking about calling her Clova. She’s super fast so all the pictures are some degree of blur
I need a name for my male birdeater tarantula (a picture of which I will not include since I’ve posted enough bugs already). I’m not usually very good at coming up with names for pets.
The two brother rats are my boys, Oliver and Barry (named after Oliver Queen and Barry Allen). We got them over a year ago, but I’d say they are almost 1.5 years old now. They are lazy, and sometimes have ridiculous dominance fights (over who gets to sleep under the ledge, who gets to sit on top of the cage, etc) but they cuddle afterwards so I know they really care. If I could change anything about them, it would be their short lifespans. I have had rats in the past, and that part always breaks my heart. But I do love them.
The betta I just got several days ago (after my old betta passed). This guy’s name is Moon, he is pretty, and he knows it. There is also a nerite snail in the tank named Ben, he’s just not in this photo. I also have a lot of plant babies, if that counts. Our current living situation prevents me from having more animals, which is probably a blessing right now.
