I am Autistic

Haha, ya I really had to hold myself back from doing a knowledge dump about it. I have actually has autism tests done on me when I was a child (my Mum works with autistic kids so used to test them on me and my sister) and didn’t score because they were that catered towards boys. This is like 15 years ago though and I know that tests have gotten a little less biased but my Mum has told me stories of me taking these tests and cackling because I knew what the “catch out” answer was but knew that wasn’t what I was supposed to say.

I was going to see if I could find a picure example but I can’t. Basically it was a phrase like “The car is boxed in” and I was cackling about the picture of a car with boxes round it because that was my first thought but then picked the one with the car being stopped from moving by other cars as I knew that was what the test wanted me to answer I guess

Ya, it’s a shame that you have experienced that. I will sometimes get looks when I say I’m like “Mum-diagnosed” autistic until I explain my Mum’s professional background in autism and then people are all of a sudden a lot more chilled…

It’s why I’ve started on my diagnosis route because I’m getting sick of having to justify my experience with my Mum’s profession
