Hey, Mounties! Coming at you with another CWC freewrite session! Today’s writing goal is 10 minutes
What is freewriting?
Freewriting is an exercise in which a person writes continuously for a set period of time without regard to spelling, grammar, or topic. It is a technique used by writers to generate ideas and connect concepts, dissolve writer’s apathy and writer’s block, and let your stream of consciousness emerge. During freewriting, you put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard), start your timer, and write. From the beginning of the predetermined time til the end, the goal is to keep writing, even if all you have to say is “I don’t know what to say.”
Feel free to post your freewrite below (if it’s appropriate) or simply comment to let us know how it went!
Humanity Reaches Stars
The Ellis Herald, 19th August 2117
Today, at 12:15 United Humanity Standard Time, humanity has achieved
its ultimate goal of reaching the stars.
Originally sent into motion by the global conglomerate SpX Solutions, humanity had long dreamed of reaching the stars. In 2018, the first Falcon Heavy Rocket gave humanity hope of their dreams finally being realized. This started a second space race, with the ambitious aim of creating the first functional FTL Starship.
Around 2034, the race was temporarily put on hold by the Unifying War, originally called World War 3 by the living humans of the time. The ultimate result of this war was the disarmament of all nuclear arms and a unified council of every country on every continent. The Unified Human Alliance was created.
Work restarted on the Earth Escape Project in 2074, when it became clear earth no longer could support humanity for more than a total of 50 years.
With the success of the Global Space Research and Development Department, we can finally claim our destiny and reach the starry cradle without a time limit. To those who read this tens, hundreds of years from now, know that this was the start of everything.
