Also a student- not a Thornmouth though, but to be fair, I am studying illustration. I’m sure there’s plenty of students about and unis and libraries, so we can cover lots of ground!!
I work in a research institute near a university, just in case we need a back-up to the back-up
I recommend that, whenever the week comes, we all just go and do as we can, wherever’s near and available, and make some record of it somewhere together, just to make sure there’s enough activity? Pics or just writing where someone went and what they did is fine I’d say. It could be like a journal haha. But basically, the more the merrier.
I reckon that we should, but it’s good to get confirmation. And for someone to write out that order just so we can make sure… We’ll also need to know when we’re starting, but I can assume Eaves will let us know about that? No harm in preparing ahead of time.
Also… There’s got to be more to Tides than that. Harbours and docks could double, perhaps. In fact, a lot of places can work with various different elements. But there’s surely more places that embody Purpose than, uh… Places where people apparently take driving tests… Right?
I was thinking maybe Lighthouses? Both tide/shore related and very purposeful structures.
Ooh, I like that. And I live fairly near a lighthouse too!
I think I should probably say don’t vandalise anything while doing this like carving runes into trees or desks Drawing it in chalk on a tree is okay or on paper and sticking it somewhere in a library!
I’m currently working at a university theatre costume shop, and there are LOTS of corkboards people pin things to pretty indiscriminately. Probably libraries and community centers also have public cork boards - sometimes coffee shops do, too. I’m also considering getting a bunch of 3x5 cards and just passing out the runes with little encouraging messages at random - that’ll probably be my plan for the Wild rune.
I’m a university student (arts) and can cover a lot of elements if people are sharing more than one element. Don’t have much in way of social media (gasp I know) but I can share my trek here on the forum. Or I can focus on Ore for its week?
Tides; Bell tower, just rings that bell you know? It has a very specific purpose and everyone looks up to it
Ore; Arts labs, creations and the sharing of them, whichever I have access to that week
Thought; any of the libraries on campus, there’s a few. ~Scholars~
Wild; a bit on the nose, but there is Garden I can get to easily
Light; the lake my family lives near, took me a while to think of it, but I’d only be able to get there on the weekend
Aether; food court/ center (literally the HUB) of campus, or a music auditorium
There must be more but I was drawing a blank last night. I’ll add any suggestions.
@BarkbytheGrace
I like purpose built buildings, that opens some ideas.
We have a Camera Obscura and a cliff Railway I’m our local town, both pretty pointless but purpose built for Victorian entertainment and useless for everything other than their built purpose.
Swimming pools. I have never seen anyone swimming in lanes that didn’t do so with a purpose.
Oh, we’re all totally free to cover, I’d say encouraged to cover, as many guilds as we’re able. More people = more interferance
Oh! There’s a camera obscura at the National museum which I could pay a visit to!
I might start drawing up some rune’d sticky notes in advance…Tides will be the first element right?
Yeah and we don’t really need to assign backups, just have everyone do it anyway, the more people we have the more interference we’ll create.
Would this potentially be an opportunity to work in some Figuration? Anybody who feels like dabbling could post a picture of where they’re placing the runes, and write a story about what they imagine/hope will happen because of it. Then we can also have some kind of record of what we’re doing, but it’s not quite as rigid as “post a picture and write a story every day for two months” - completely voluntary.
Well, aside from cutting the paper up, I’m ready to go with a set of all six (and with a special QR code on the back ).
Just need to figure out where some of them will be going…
This seems like a most Chaotic enterprise. I like it.
I’m gonna need some volunteer rocks…
I’d add a good spot for the Wilds rune would be the natural history sections of museums, or places that celebrate biodiversity and conservation. And Aether and Ore I think would do well at a farmer’s market; communal places where folks showcase the fruits (literal and otherwise) of their labor.
Ooh! Good ideas @Sorrel! “Volunteer rocks” makes me think we could also use paint or chalk to place runes on rocks and hide them all over the place, too!
Ore would also be well represented at Craft fairs and restaurants!
I feel like craft fairs - depending on the craft - would be great for aether as well as ore. They’re also ideal for aether in that they’re a gathering place.
