Brendon is definitely always on Team Paper Crafts At Work as far as I know.
Maybe that’s who I was thinking of then
Also a flattering person to have been mistake for. You probably just had a magiqal scrying vision of me trying to wrap a gift and being so frustrated, you could only assume I was trying to solve some kind of arcane puzzle.
Hey CJ, I have an odd question. Is it possible for us to add modifiers, so to speak, to certain castings? Like let’s say a bunch of us cast a warding charm to a risky spell someone is doing. Is it possible that those things might influence the result in some way?
Haaaaaaa that’s not remotely odd, in our world.
Yes, that is very possible. Sort of giving the caster a “+1”
I really like that idea! !!!
I’m just worried about if/when a casting fails. Trying to figure out a way to do it if it happens where it can feel like a failure but not a narrative dead-end, you know? I still want the improv “yes, and…” vibe we have going. Just spitballing.
I think in this case, it’s a bit tricky, since we’re dealing with real world locations. If there’s not an irl agent able to go there, and we fail the spell, then it’d be hard to proceed.
It could be interesting to incur a sort of creative “penalty” for it, though? Like, let’s say one of us failed the dream spell and got stuck in the astral plane. Perhaps they would have to, in short story form, write out a way to escape, or someone else would have to jump in and write a story of how they rescued them. Or people could do other creative things, like devise their own spell, do visual art, videos, etc. That way, there’s still a consequence, but one that’s in line with the Ackerly Green ethos of inspiring creativity.
